Master of Dental Surgery is a Postgraduate Academic Degree. It is also known as M.D.S. (Masters Degree in Dentistry). Dental Council of India (D.C.I) is the regulatory body for Dental courses. Dental Schools provides graduates, training in different streams in Dentistry. M.D.S. degree can be completed after acceptance of a thesis and after the candidate has passed the M.D.S. examination which consists of 4 written papers, clinical (or practical) and oral examinations. The candidate should have completed B.D.S with 50% marks. It is also necessary that the candidate has completed 12 months of internship from recognized dental colleges. The selection of students to M.D.S. is based on the merit of the candidate and for the determination of merit All India Common Entrance Test (AICET) is conducted by various Dental Colleges or by the agency specified by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi
